what does two months of silence actually sound like?

tldr;

we went quiet for eight weeks. not because nothing was happening.. but because everything was. a newborn. an editor. a vision slowly becoming a real thing you can watch on a screen. this is the post we owe you.. the honest one about what the silence actually contained, and what's coming on october 1st.

it sounds like a baby who doesn't know what 3am is for.

it sounds like feeding schedules and forgotten emails and a body that is doing its absolute best. it sounds like a group chat with your artists where the last message was three weeks ago and somehow everyone understood. it sounds like grace.. the kind you didn't ask for but desperately needed.

we had a baby in june. and then we had another week. and then another. and somewhere in there, the blog went quiet, the posts stopped, and BLANK existed mostly in the form of a sleeping infant and a hard drive somewhere being shaped into something real.

it's been hard, but we've been building in the dark.

it also sounds like an edit suite.

because here is what else happened while we were quiet: we got an editor.

a real one. someone who is sitting with our footage right now.. making decisions about light and pacing and what the audience needs to feel before they understand what they're watching. someone who is taking the chaos of april 26th and turning it into a show.

handing your footage to an editor is one of the stranger acts of creative faith. you spent months building toward a single day of filming. you were there for every second of it. and then you pass it to someone else and say.. make it make sense. make it land. make it worthy of the artists who showed up.

we are in that threshold right now, and it is uncomfortable and exciting in equal measure.

it sounds like a year passing.

on september 8th, BLANK turns one.

one year since the idea stopped being an idea. one year since we started saying "toronto's first visual arts TV competition" out loud to people who had never heard of us. one year of building something that had no blueprint, no model, no guarantee.

and on october 1st.. our fourth wedding anniversary.. we are premiering the pilot.

in a room. with people. with the artists. with the edit that is being shaped right now as you read this.

we did not plan for our company's first premiere to land on the same night as four years of marriage. but honestly.. it's the most BLANK thing that could have happened. we built this together. it makes sense that we'd show it to the world together too.

the silence is over.

we are back.. not because everything is figured out, but because this final stretch deserves to be documented in real time. the next six weeks are going to be some of the most important in BLANK's first year, and we want you in it with us.

if you've been following since the kickstarter.. since the chaos post.. since the beginning.. this one's for you.

october 1st.

save the date.

the pilot is almost here.
